Thread Painting

Combination of both Painting and Stitching

Fascination with Painting, Stitching and Embroidery took me to a path where I discovered the world of Thread Painting. It was so rewarding to see the final product. From a distance, it appears to look like a painting but on close inspection, you could see the beautiful thread work. I could not hold my enthusiasm, to find that I could use both the medium I loved so much at the same time and give them equal importance too. Before I jumped into big projects, I picked up a slightly smaller version of it from a book called "Stitch & Stencil" by Sheila Coulson & Tessa Brown. The concept was the same. It teaches us to stencil onto a fabric and then enhance the design with embroidery. It was a good book for me as a beginner and the best thing about it is that you don't have to be very good in painting as that part is covered by the stencil. The embroidery part, you can leave it to your imagination, you can either outline it or give it a three dimensional effect. All I can assure you is that the end product will simply be breathtaking.

I have taken 2 designs from this book and tried it (given below) and now I am in the process of working on a slightly bigger one. As soon as I am done, I will add it in this page.
